Fall 2019 Madrid Film Slam

Have you ever wanted to make a short film?  And then have it screened, judged & win an award?   

We’ve got you covered! 

The Madrid 48-Hour Film Slam 2nd Edition will run from Friday October 25th to Sunday October 27th, 20.00h to 20.00h.

You and your team have 48-hours to shoot all the footage, sound, music, and edit.  

All submissions that meet the guidelines and follow the rules, will then be screened on Friday November 1st at 20h and voted on by the audience. Winners will be announced at 22.30h following the premiere and audience vote. First and second will be awarded cash prizes.

Team submission fee: €30
(Submission fee covers registration for participating in the film slam contest. Due to limited seating of 67 seats in the cinema theater on the evening of the contest premiere, participants who wish to attend the public premiere will be required to purchase a ticket. The ticket is €15 at the door, €10 in advance. Participants may purchase the ticket at a special discounted price of €8 in advance, €10 at the door.)

NOTEWORTHY DETAILS:

Four award-winning directors’ short films will be shown along with this past spring’s Film Slam participants’ short films on Fridays October 11th and 18th.

  • Mari Cielo Pajares is a Spanish filmmaker with 28 awards and more than 100 selections in international film festivals around the world (including Sitges International Film Festival, BAFTA qualifying Carmarthen Bay Film Festival, Macabre Faire New York, Tabloid Awards Los Angeles, Razor Reel…). She has three books on the market, the last one “memorias de una Puta” edited by the prestigious editorial Planeta. CEO of MakingNoizeFilms & AB Intra Productions, founder of “Filmmaker International Film Festival” in Marbella, which in only three years was on the list of the 100 best festivals in the world due to the criteria of filmmakers in the largest filmmaking distribution platform FilmFreeway, bringing to the city of Marbella filmmakers from 88 countries with more than 4,000 films submitted to date.
  • Nick Mandri-Perrott is an award-winning Mexican director and executive producer at 3c Films.
  • Dominic Anglim is an Irish film director, an award-winning producer, film and theater actor, a comedian and host. Dominic is represented by www.crawfordtalents.com.
  • Candice Vallantin is an award-winning Canadian director with ten years of international experience telling stories with words, pictures and film to inspire and inform global audiences. Candice is recognized for distilling complex subject matter into original editorial conent that can be re-purposed across platforms.

Rules & Regulations

  • A mystery genre and elements will be allocated to teams at 19.00h on Friday October 25th. The competition starts at 20h the same day.  
  • Teams are 6 people maximum (names of team members must be registered along with the submission fee)
  • Registration Fee must be paid by October 24th, 20.00h in order to compete.
  • Madrid 48 hour Film Slam 2019 is limited to 20 teams maximum, on a first come, first submission-fee basis.
  • All filming must be done in the allocated 48-hour period from Friday October 25th 20.00h to Sunday October 27th 20.00h.
  • Films must be 3 to 6-minutes maximum which includes titles and credits.
  • Follow the genre and include elements allocated to your team.
  • Lead with a 5 second black title card that states:

‘’Movie Title’’

  • Be provided to Madrid 48 hour Film Slam in a MP4 digital file titled

‘’YourTeamName*Madrid*FilmSlam2019’’

  • Cast and crew must participate on a volunteer basis only.
  • The only film work allowed prior to the 48-hour duration is organizing the cast & crew and scouting potential locations; all footage used in the film must be captured within the 48-hour period. This includes no use of B-Roll that you have previously shot.
  • Films must be original works and must not infringe on 3rd-party rights.
  • Keep it PG. Films must be suitable for public screening. Films cannot be obscene, indecent, cannot include defamatory statements about people nor entities or include drug use, invade privacy or rights of any person or entity, or violate any laws.
  • Do not use any copyrighted materials unless you have express permission from the producer. These written permissions need to be submitted along with your final film submission.
  • Talent release forms are the responsibility of the team and must be made available to M48FilmSlam2019 upon request.
  • All productions will air on all of M48FilmSlam2019 media distribution channels.
  • By participating the team members agree to these rules. It is the responsibility of the team captain to share this participation agreement with each of their team members.

Please Note:  All costs associated with the production of the 48 hour film slam are solely the responsibility of each respective team.  The team leader (or their designee) must be present at the mandatory rules meeting on Friday October 25th at 19.00h to be eligible to participate; a representative of the team should also be present at the premiere on Friday November 1st for the screening of the films and through the awards ceremony.  By participating, team members agree to the Official Rules, which are final and binding in all respects.  The Madrid 48 Hour Film Slam Organizers may add to or amend these rules at any time prior to the beginning of the 48 hour film slam.
