16 May 2020 – Singer-songwriters’ Open Mic // Livestream // Living Room Concerts

On Saturday, in place of the Flamenco Americana concert, we will offer a Singer-songwriters’ Open Mic hosted by Kelly Miller.

Due to extenuating circumstances, Flamenco Americana cannot perform this Saturday. Kati suffered an injury. She is okay but has been advised by a doctor to rest. Kati and Miguel will perform on Saturday 4 July 2020. Details can be seen here.

Kelly has been writing and playing music since 2003. Starting out in the small, smoke-filled venues of San Antonio, TX as a solo artist, he quickly attached himself, and helped revive, the then struggling singer-songwriter music scene in a town oozing with Punk.
Kelly Miller quickly joined forces with Ross Renker, Emanuel Meza, and Sophie Severence to create the band Middle Ground- an Alt-Country/Americana group which highlighted Miller’s singer-songwriter and folk background.
Middle Ground’s music, based on the song-writing of Miller, was a local mainstay on the San Antonio and Austin music scene for almost a decade. The style of their music was greatly influenced by artists such as Bob Dylan, The Band, and Bruce Springsteen. Renker’s cello and Severence’s violin, along with Meza’s multi-talented role as lead guitarist/mandolin created a unique sound and suited the story-telling of Miller’s lyrics.

Singersongwriters from anywhere in the world can be added to hat to play two songs starting at 7:00pm (Madrid-time). Names will be drawn from the hat at random starting at 7:15pm (Madrid-time). Submissions to perform will be accepted between 7:00pm to 7:15pm (Madrid-time). If you are not available when your name is drawn, we will draw another name to perform. Rules of participation in the open mic:

  • Be present and ready on standby to perform between 7:15pm and 9:00pm (Madrid-time).
  • Two songs per person. Songs must be original.
  • Acoustic unplugged
  • Must use FB on your phone to be able to join the LRC livestream
  • You can introduce yourself but keep it brief. Let your music do the talking for you.
  • Make sure your background setting is tidy and that you are dressed appropriately for a live public broadcast.

The Singersongwriters’ Open Mic will be live in a livestream at 7:00pm (Madrid-time) on the Living Room Concerts Facebook Page for anyone to see, attend and participate in. Message our FB page to sign up for the Open Mic!
