Anakena is a Caribbean Pop Venezuelan band formed by Santiago de la Fuente, Mikel Maury, Carlos González and Antonio Romero. The group was founded in July 2016 by Mikel and Santiago, both born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela. Anakena first debuted on the music scene on September 20, 2016 with the premiere of their first four song EP titled ‘El Mar’.
After one year in Madrid, Mikel and Santiago went back to Venezuela. In October of 2017,, they decided to integrate bassist Antonio Romero and latin percussionist Carlos “Mara” González.. By the end of 2017, Anakena entered the recording studio to start recording their first full album. In May of 2018, after dozens of concerts in the Venezuelan capital and other cities, the band premiered their first single of their upcoming album: Sanguchito. This was the first song that entered in rotation in national radios and it rapidly became one of the most known songs of the band.
At the beginning of October, they launched a second promotional ‘Guayaba’ and also placed first in the ‘Festival Nuevas Bandas’ , the most prestigious music festival in the country. This made the band significantly rise in popularity and helped them scale to a new level in the national music scene. Guayaba is currently among the first 50 most played songs on the national radio billboard and has over 100k plays in digital platforms. Anakena is preparing for the premiere of their debut album by mid-2019.
Anakena es una agrupación venezolana de pop caribeño, conformada por Mikel Maury, Santiago de la Fuente, Carlos González y Antonio Romero. La agrupación fue fundada a mediados del año 2016 por Mikel Maury y Santiago de la Fuente, ambos venezolanos y amigos de infancia. Anakena debutó en la escena musical el día 20 de Septiembre de 2016 con el estreno de su primer EP titulado ‘El Mar’.
A finales del 2017 la agrupación vuelve a Venezuela e integra a la formación al percusionista Carlos “Mara” González y al bajista Antonio Romero. A finales de este año entran al estudio para iniciar con la producción de su primera placa discográfica de larga duración. En Mayo del 2018, luego de varios meses de presentaciones en la capital y otras ciudades del país, la banda estrena su nuevo sencillo promocional titulado ‘Sanguchito’, actualmente su tema más conocido contando con más de 50 mil reproducciones en plataformas digitales.
A principios de octubre Anakena estrena su segundo promocional ‘Guayaba’ y a esto se le suma la victoria en el Festival Nuevas Bandas 2018 , llevándolos a un nuevo nivel dentro de la movida musical nacional. Actualmente Guayaba se encuentra entre los primeros 50 temas más sonados en la cartelera radial nacional y Anakena se prepara para el estreno de su disco debut para mediados del año 2019.
