Hailing from Benguela, Angola, Kanonia Ant has not only been around the block and back, living in several countries before finally settling down in Spain, she found a way to document her life experiences. Kanonia grew up in a family of musicians and artists, music and art werealways a part of her childhood. While her father, who is a multi-instrumentalist, always made sure there was music of all genres ringing through the house, he dissuaded her from learning to play any instruments herself by emphasizing she focus on her academics instead.
Rebelling in her teens, she joined a youth choir and learned that the best way to cope with life was to write. Through writing she discovered that she could not only add melodies to the words on paper, but also hide her innermost feelings in plain sight with the wordplay. As soon as her stint with the choir ended, Kanonia begged her uncle to teach her how to play the guitar. She composed her first song at eighteen and never looked back.
Kanonia Ant, oriunda de Benguela, Angola, Kanonia Ant no solo ha estado alrededor de la cuadra y de regreso, viviendo en varios países antes de establecerse finalmente en España, sino que también encontró una manera de documentar sus experiencias de vida. Kanonia creció en una familia de músicos y artistas, la música y el arte siempre fueron parte de su infancia. Mientras que su padre, que es un multi-instrumentista, siempre se aseguró de que la música de todos los géneros sonara por toda la casa, él la disuadió de aprender a tocar cualquier instrumento por sí misma, enfatizando que se enfocó en sus académicos.
Rebelde en su adolescencia, se unió a un coro de jóvenes y aprendió que la mejor manera de lidiar con la vida era escribir. A través de la escritura, descubrió que no solo podía agregar melodías a las palabras en el papel, sino que también podía ocultar sus sentimientos más íntimos a la vista del juego de palabras. Tan pronto como terminó su paso por el coro, Kanonia le rogó a su tío que le enseñara a tocar la guitarra. Compuso su primera canción a los dieciocho años y nunca miró hacia atrás.
