Hailing from the shadows of Philadelphia in South Jersey, the charismatic storyteller first got into music listening to his dad’s old soul records and hasn’t been able to get of the itch to make feet move since.
Moving to Madrid in 2012 and soon immersing himself in the city’s thriving urban jam scene, Brotha CJ has since harnessed his storytelling ability and quick-wit to become one of the most exciting performers in the Spanish capital’s live circuit.
After working as a solo artist for several years, he joined forces with Roots-ish madrileño band The Othahood. Since then the beats have grown jazzier and the rhymes tighter, resulting in sold out shows and recognition from popular blogs spanning from Europe all the way back to the States.
His most recent release “Hard to Remember” produced by Mumbai Moon on FLYHI Records has seen much success, reaching over 600.000 plays since its release and has been featured on top Spotify playlists such as Mellow Bars and Fresh Finds.
Procedente de las sombras de Filadelfia en Jersey del Sur, el primer contacto con la música de este carismático narrador fue escuchando los viejos discos de soul de su padre, y no ha conseguido librarse de la necesidad de hacer bailar a los demás desde entonces.
Brotha CJ se trasladó a Madrid en 2012 y no tardó en sumergirse en la floreciente escena de jam urbano de la ciudad. Durante ese tiempo ha desarrollado su capacidad narrativa y rápido ingenio para convertirse en uno de los artistas más interesantes del circuito de música en directo de la capital española.
Tras trabajar en solitario varios años, ha unido fuerzas con el grupo madrileño de roots The Othahood. Desde entonces sus ritmos han ido cogiendo más vidilla y sus versos, más garra; el resultado: aforos completos en sus actuaciones y el reconocimiento en blogs de prestigio tanto europeos como estadounidenses.
Su último lanzamiento, «Hard to Remember», producido por Mumbai Moon en FLYHI Records, ha tenido una excelente acogida, superando las 600 000 reproducciones desde su publicación e incluyéndose en algunas de las principales listas de reproducción de Spotify, como Mellow Bars y Fresh Finds.
