“All musicians love music, that’s a given. But it’s kind of like asking what breathing is to me… music is such a part of my life that I sometimes take it for granted, but I would essentially die without it.”
Several years ago, American singer-songwriter Tori Sparks made the move from Nashville, TN (US) to Barcelona, Spain. Her fifth album ‘El Mar’ (Glass Mountain Records, 2014) was a collaboration with Spanish flamenco fusion trio Calamento, and is a surprising mix of blues, rock, and flamenco. The bilingual project was an international success, called “indescribable, incredible” (Deruting), “adventurous, pushing the envelope” (Rolling Stone), and “extremely special, a monster of a record [Top 20 Albums of the Year]” (Orpheo). The band went on to triumph on festivals as well as on tour in Germany, Portugal, and Italy. Two years later, Tori Sparks + Calamento have returned to the studio to record their second album together, but with one difference: The quartet has become a quintet. The maestro of the electric guitar, El Rubio, lent a helping hand on the ‘El Mar’ recording sessions and has since become an integral part of the project. The band continues to experiment with new sounds on the album ‘La Huerta’ without sacrificing the unique combination styles that won them fans the world over with ‘El Mar’. Tori also continues to tour as a solo artist, presenting a mix of the songs from her Nashville days with the music from ‘El Mar’ and ‘La Huerta.’

Su quinto disco ‘El Mar’ (Glass Mountain Records, 2014) fue una colaboración con el trío de flamenco fusión español, Calamento, y mezcla los géneros de blues, folk, rock, y flamenco. El álbum bilingüe fue un éxito internacional, calificado por la prensa como “indescriptible, increíble” (Deruting), “valiente, arriesgado” (Rolling Stone), y “muy especial, un pedazo de disco” (Orpheo). Dos años más tarde, el grupo ha triunfado en festivales y en giras por Alemania, Portugal, Italia y más.
