“Music is the most direct language that I have. I could use a thousand words to explain how I feel or how I see a situation, and maybe it would not be so clear as taking my instruments and speaking through them with my voice, letting them to express themselves.
It is a necessity that I have, like who runs or shouts to vent. I would then continue composing and singing even on a desert island.
I also see two ways of making music: with the classic form, creating a beautiful melody for a suggestive lyrics; or through improvisation, where the performative act depends entirely on the public, the environment and the moment. It is this second way which I most enjoy, and also where I most risk, most share and the purest creation.
Here is a duality: the invented song against the pure song.”

“La música para mí es el lenguaje más directo que poseo. Puedo usar mil palabras para explicar lo que siento o cómo veo una situación, y quizás no quede tan claro como cogiendo mis instrumentos y dejando que sean ellos junto a mi voz los que se expresen.
Es una necesidad que tengo, como quien corre o grita para desahogarse. Seguiría componiendo y cantando aún en una isla desierta; incluso allí lo haría aún más.
Por otro lado, comprendo dos formas de hacermúsica: una de forma clásica, creando una melodía bonita para una letra sugerente; la otra mediante la improvisación, donde el acto creativo depende totalmente del público, del entorno y del momento. Es esta segunda forma la que más disfruto, donde más arriesgo, más comparto y la más pura.
He aquí una dualidad: la canción inventada y la canción pura.”
David Uclés, from the multicultural Andalusia, began composing his first songs at a young age. A multidisciplinary artist, at the age of only 18 he started to use Youtube to share numerous original songs and covers that brought him recognition in his country. His first concerts took place in Córdoba, and since then he has been on a continuous tour in Europe.
Currently he lives in Madrid (after being 8 years moving each year from one city to another), where his music just expands and grows all the time. Self-produced and with a DIY philosophy, he has recorded several rough cuts and EPs and also composed music for theatre, short-films and exhibitions.
While singing mostly in English, he also uses German, Spanish and French in some of his songs, as well as Noguo, a language he invented for his improvisations. Its sound has roots in the personal, but also the folk tradition, because of his voice (his secret weapon and musical focal point), and of the different instruments that he plays: guitar, harp, ukulele, harmonica, and accordion and piano.
His influences include Laura Marling, Fleet Foxes, Neil Young, Beirut, Sufjan Stevens, Antony Hegarty, Björk, Devendra Banhart o Sigur Ros.

David Uclés, procedente de la ciudad de Úbeda, comenzó a componer sus primeras canciones desde muy joven. Artista multidisciplinar, con 18 años se ayudó de Youtube para dar a conocer numerosas canciones así como versiones que le dieron un reconocimiento especial. Sus primeros conciertos los acogió Córdoba, y desde entonces ha estado en una continua gira por Europa.
Actualmente vive en Madrid (tras ocho años cambiando de ciudad cada año), desde donde no deja de expandir su música. Auto-producido y siguiendo la filosofía hazlo tu mismo, ha grabado varias maquetas en solitario, así como compuesto música para teatros, cortometrajes y exposiciones.
Aunque canta principalmente en inglés, emplea el alemán, español y francés para algunas de sus canciones, además del noguo, su particular idioma inventado para sus improvisaciones. Su estilo parte de un folk muy personal debido a su voz, el gran elemento de su música, y a los distintos instrumentos que toca: guitarra, arpa, ukelele y armónica, además de acordeón y piano.
Entre sus influencias destacan Laura Marling, Fleet Foxes, Neil Young, Beirut, Sufjan Stevens, Antony Hegarty, Björk, Devendra Banhart o Sigur Ros.
