Jake Shane is a singer-songwriter and guitarist living in Nashville, Tennessee.
Martin Chilton from The Daily Telegraph has written about Jake Shane’s recent record: “Jake Shane’s album ‘Evening Sounds’ neatly blends folk, Americana and even some Spanish influences from his time in Madrid in pleasant melodies with some clever lyrics on songs such as ‘Before Winter’ and ‘Seascape’. An enjoyable listen.”
Jake Shane grew up in Springfield, Illinois where he started collecting vinyl records with his father at age twelve—Hendrix led him to Dylan and Dylan led him to the recesses of the early blues and folk traditions. Jake received his B.A. in Philosophy from Belmont University in Nashville, releasing his Karamazov-inspired album, Ancient Fire (2012), to fulfill his Honors thesis requirement.
After working at Oh Boy Records, he moved to Madrid, Spain. Jake lived there two years, in which time he taught English, studied flamenco guitar and translated a book on the subject from Spanish. While in Spain he also wrote the songs to his album , Evening Sounds (Released March 13, 2015), which he recorded upon moving back to Nashville in Fall 2014 to pursue music full-time. Two songs from this album are featured in the Nashville Review. The magazine American Songwriter has also featured his single, “Seascape.” His strong, image-driven lyrics explore the eternal questions through American roots music with Spanish overtones, forming a sound entirely his own.

Jake Shane creció en Springfield, Illinois, donde empezó coleccionando vinilos con su padre cuando tenía 12 años: Hendrix le llevó a Dylan y de la mano de éste se adentró en los recovechos de los inicios del blues y del folk. Cuando se licenció en filosofía por la universidad Belmont de Nashville, publicó un álbum inspirado en «Los hermanos Karamazov», Ancient Fire (2012), como parte de su tesis de fin de carrera.
Tras trabajar en Oh Boy Records se trasladó a Madrid. Vivió en esta ciudad dos años y durante ese tiempo impartió clases de inglés, estudió guitarra flamenca y tradujo del español un libro dedicado a este instrumento. Durante su estancia en España también compuso las canciones de su disco Evening Sounds (publicado el 13 de marzo de 2015), que grabó al volver a Nashville en otoño de 2014 para dedicarse de lleno a la música. Dos de los temas de ese disco se mencionan en el Nashville Review. La revista American Songwriter también reseñó su sencillo «Seascape». Sus letras, potentes y muy visuales, exploran cuestiones eternas a través de música de raíces americana con matices españoles que crean un sonido único y característico.
