20 Feb – The Third Floor

Three sets, all original compositions, presented by three musicians living together on the third floor.

“Depending on my mood, music can be an escape from the world or a celebration of it.”

“The music that I play has mostly been confined to the bedrooms, living rooms and kitchens of the various homes that I’ve had over the past few years, although I have played in a few bars and even at a wedding. Recently I’ve been playing with a saxophone player, Curro Tak, and I hope other people will enjoy the music we make as much as we do.”

“In a world that’s increasingly automated, structured, and optimized for maximum commercial gain and productivity, there is a need to have spaces where people still get together and lose themselves in music. Music that’s personal and imperfect. Music that exists only for the moment of its creation between musicians and the audience, and is then gone.”

“Music has always made me feel alive.  The hymns are what got me through all-day revival meetings as a child. As a teenager I slept with my favorite stolen CDs on repeat, hoping that my brain would absorb their secret messages. So as I entered my thirties and felt the life being sucked out of me by the boredom and predictability of adulthood, I thought I’d better start making music of my own.”

“Music is a well known mystery… you don´t need to name it to know what it means.”
