13 May – Clay Workshop: Coil Pots

Coiling is a method of creating pottery. It has been used to shape clay into vessels for many thousands of years. It ranges from Africa to Greece and from China to New Mexico. They have used this method in a variety of ways. Using the coiling technique, it is possible to build thicker or taller walled vessels, which may not have been possible using earlier methods.

There are four sessions in this workshop series began with pinch pots, this one is coil pots, next is slabs, and the last session is for free form or learning different decorating techniques to finish off your pieces from the previous sessions.

The workshops are four hours long on Fridays from 10.00 to 14.00.

Each session is independent and stands alone. You may attend one session, two, three or all four. Each session is 25€ per person. This pays for materials and use of a kiln to fire your piece.
